About Theo Parmakis

Theo Parmakis is a Sheffield based luthier who trained at the Newark School of Violin Making, graduating in 2020. He has a busy workshop in the city, combining new making with restoration.

About the cello

This cello was made in Sheffield in 2020 and is inspired by the Gore Booth Stradivari of 1710.

It has a two piece back of quarter sawn poplar with ribs and scroll of quarter sawn maple. The front is two pieces of wide-grained spruce and the varnish is a shaded golden-red in colour.

The cello has a length of back of 757 mm.

How does it sound?

This cello has a bold, smooth voice with lots of darkness in the bottom register. It’s really responsive and sings well with even a very light bow stroke.

The cello is in original mint condition.
