London Appointments

We are pleased to offer trial appointments in London by arrangement.

London appointments take place with our colleague Tom Palmer. Before setting up independently in 2018, Tom spent a decade working in the major musical instrument auction houses, including a role of specialist at Bonhams before taking on a director’s role at Brompton’s Auctioneers.

About Tom

Since becoming self-employed, Tom has enjoyed working collaboratively with colleagues in the sale and research of historic instruments and is privileged to have been engaged with some of the world’s most recognised stringed instruments. Following a second kidney transplant in 2022, Tom has committed to a research project focusing on the Betts family and their many talented makers – a golden era in English violin making; lecturing and publishing articles on this subject.

Tom is delighted to partner with Tim Wright Fine Violins to grow their presence in London, offering clients the bespoke, personal service enjoyed by musicians in their Edinburgh shop.

Tom will be delighted to arrange for you to try any instrument or bow on our website. Browse our website as normal, or simply be in touch with your requirements. Once your selection is made, we require a week’s notice to have them available in London for you.

We keep a small selection of instruments available in London at all times: contact us to find out what’s currently available.
