Violin bow by J.R. Silva

About J.R. Silva

This bow was made by Silva for L'archet Brasil, the leading bow company which commissions work from master makers in Brazil. The bows are all handmade by individual archetiers before being distributed by the firm all across the world. The company has developed an excellent reputation for its focus on sustainability: their work in developing excellent alternatives to pernambuco is of particular note.

These bows are selected by us in conjunction with our Head of Workshop. We assess the bows for both quality and playing characteristics, selecting the best for sale.

About the violin bow

This violin bow was made in Brazil. Very excitingly, it is made of Mexican pernambuco! This wood is not subject to the same restrictions as Brazilian pernambuco, and we're delighted with how it plays.

The round stick measures 727 mm in length and the mounts are of nickel and ebony.

The bow weighs 61 grams.

How does it play?

This bow has a warm sound with lots of nuance. It allows for a great deal of variation in colour and works very well all round!

Condition

The bow is brand new.

Certification

The bow comes with the maker's certificate, guaranteeing the source of the wood.
