About Roy G. Quade
Roy Quade is a highly respected Canadian bow maker, widely regarded as one of the foremost contemporary makers in North America. He trained in New York with the prominent American bow maker and restorer William Salchow, and later at Oberlin College, where he worked under the guidance of the great French bow maker Stéphane Thomachot.
Over the course of his career, Quade has received numerous distinctions for his work. These include four gold medals from the Violin Society of America, along with the Hors Concours honour for sustained achievement. He has also been awarded a silver medal by the British Violin Making Association, and fifteen merit awards at competitions in the United States and Great Britain. He currently lives and works in Calgary.
About the violin bow
The round stick measures 730 mm in length and is of good quality pernambuco.
The mounts are silver and ebony, and the bow weighs 61 grams.
How does it play?
This bow has a laser-like intensity to the sound. It feels very athletic to play and meets the varied demands of professional playing with ease.
Condition
The bow is in very good condition with some signs of use.
