Violin bow by Alecio Reis, Cheltenham

About Alecio Reis

Alecio Reis is one of a number of excellent Brazilian archetiers making today. He is based in the UK and his bows can be found in violin shops across the country, as well as in the hands of many players.

About the bow

The bow weighs 63 grams and the mounts are of silver and ebony. It is made of good quality pernambuco. The bow looks exceedingly glamorous thanks to the attractive mother of pearl shield on the frog and inlay on the button.

The stick is 727 mm in length.

How does it play?

This bow represents excellent value for money and makes a large, almost rustic, sound. Its power would be the ideal match for a violin with a thinner tone or an instrument which is more reluctant to speak.

Condition

The bow is in original mint condition. It is stamped A. Reis above the frog.
