About Luis & Clark

Luis and Clark was founded in 2000 by cellist Luis Leguía of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and designs carbon fibre string instruments known for their durability and powerful sound. Inspired by Leguía’s sailing experiences, the company partnered with carbon fibre expert Steve Clark to develop the instruments and bring them to market.

Their violins, violas, cellos, and basses offer musicians a modern alternative to traditional wooden designs. Today, Luis and Clark instruments are used worldwide by professionals and students alike.

About the violin

This violin was handmade in the US by Luis and Clark and is made entirely of carbon fibre. The violin is set up with geared pegs to make tuning easy.

How does it sound?

This is an incredible powerhouse of a violin! It has an enormous, characterful voice with lots of colour. The violin is very responsive and speaks easily.

We were perhaps most surprised by the quality of the sound at the most quiet end of the range: here the violin takes on an intimate, vintage tone with speaks right at the very edge of hearing. An extremely interesting instrument and one which would be a great pleasure to use in a variety of settings.

Condition

The violin is in original condition.
