Violin bow by Lothar Seifert, Bubenreuth, circa 1990

About Lothar Seifert

Lothar Seifert was born in 1932 in Graslitz (now Kraslice, Czech Republic), the son of bow maker Oskar Seifert. After the Second World War, the Seifert family resettled in the Bavarian town of Bubenreuth, alongside a great many other German refugees in the same industry. There, Lothar apprenticed under his father and went on to establish his own workshop in 1950, continuing to build the family's reputation for high-quality bows.

Lothar Seifert passed away in 2015, however, the business continues to produce excellent bows under the stewardship of the family.
