About Linus Wever Andersson
Linus is a Swedish/ German violin maker based in Glasgow. He studied at the Newark School of Violin Making, graduating with distinction. Following a period spent in the workshops of several important European makers, Linus set up his workshop in Glasgow, producing excellent instruments which are popular amongst professional players. He has now relocated the workshop to Nyköping, Sweden.
About the violin
This violin was made in Glasgow in 2023 and is a copy of the 1735 'Plowden' Guarneri 'del Gesù'.
The violin has a one piece back of quarter-sawn maple with characterful figuration. The ribs and scroll are of similar wood and the front is two pieces of very narrow grained spruce, widening towards the flanks. The varnish is golden brown in colour and has developed some attractive craquelure.
The violin has a length of back of 349 mm.
How does it sound?
This violin has a particularly full and gutsy sort of sound. It projects well over large distances and has a balanced and varied palate of accessible colours.
Condition
The violin is in original mint condition.
