About the cello
This cello is a workshop instrument made for the South African dealer Johan Grobbelaar. It is modelled after the instruments of Stradivari.
The cello has a two piece back of quarter-sawn maple with ribs and scroll to match. The front is two pieces of spruce and the varnish is a shaded golden-amber in colour.
The cello has a length of back of 757 mm.
How does it sound?
This is a well rounded cello that works very well. It would make an excellent upgrade to a handmade instrument for a serious player.
Condition
The cello is in very good condition with some wear to the varnish.
