About Jay Haide cellos
Jay Haide instruments are made in a workshop in China. We are always very impressed with their exceptionally high quality, both in terms of wood and workmanship. The cellos in particular represent superb value for money.
The L´Ancienne line is their flagship model: these are made by their more senior luthiers and a great deal of attention is paid to tone quality.
About this cello
This three quarter size cello was made in China in 2020. It is modelled after the instruments of Stradivari. The Jay Haide L´Ancienne instruments are always beautifully antiqued: this one is no exception.
The cello has a two piece back of attractively flamed maple which ascends from the centre joint. The ribs and scroll are of similar wood. The front is two pieces of straight grained spruce. The varnish is a rich red colour.
The cello has a length of back of 693 mm or 27 and 1/4 inches.
How does it sound?
This cello works exceptionally well: it is even across the strings and projects brilliantly. The quality of tonal and variety of tonal colours available would support a young player to progress well into the higher grades.
Condition
The cello is in very good condition, having had one previous owner. It comes with a good pernambucco bow and a hard case.
