About Gary Leahy
Gary Leahy makes exceptional bows from his County Mayo workshop. He originally trained in violin restoration before returning to Ireland to study bowmaking with Noel Burke. Having set up his own bow workshop in 2005, Gary has won numerous gold medals for his work at the VSA Competition and was also awarded the Grand Prix de la Ville de Paris for his viola bow in 2011.
About the cello bow
This cello bow was made in Gary's County Mayo workshop.
The bow is made of excellent quality pernambuco and the octagonal stick measures 699 mm in length. The mounts are of silver and ebony.
The bow weighs 83 grams.
How does it play?
This bow is notable for its excellent balance and draws out a strong, warm and complex tone. It feels very comfortable in the hand and plays very intuitively.
Condition
The bow is in very good condition.
