Cello by David Walker, Chilwell, 1990

About the cello

The cello was made in Chilwell near Nottingham in 1990. The front is two pieces of high-quality, broad grained spruce. The back is two pieces of book-matched, narrow-flamed maple and the ribs and scroll are of similar wood. The varnish is a golden orange colour which has the lovely quality of appearing to change colour in different lights.

The cello has a length of back of 754 mm or 29 and 5/8th inches.

How does it sound?

This cello has a lovely, intimate tone with lots of richness to the sound. It would make an excellent partner for someone who does lots of orchestral or chamber playing as it is an elegant, reliable instrument.

Condition

The cello has some wear to the varnish, otherwise it is in original mint condition with no cracks.
