About Colin Cross

Colin Cross graduated from the Newark School of Violin Making with Distinction in 1989. He is highly respected for his extensive experience in restoration and repair work and his instruments enjoy an excellent reputation among professional players. Having run shops in both Buxton and Deal, Colin has recently moved to Scotland and has set up his workshop in Bridge of Dee.

About the violin

This violin was made in 2025 and is modelled after the instruments of the Milanese Testore family.

The violin has a one-piece back of slab-cut maple with ribs and scroll to match. The front is two pieces of irregularly-grained spruce and the varnish is a shaded reddish-amber in colour.

The violin has a length of back of 354 mm.

How does it sound?

This is a violin that's got it all! It's rich, projecting, warm, and responsive: a real all-rounder.

The violin is in original mint condition.
