About Colin Cross

Colin Cross graduated from the Newark School of Violin Making with Distinction in 1989. He is highly respected for his extensive experience in restoration and repair work and his instruments enjoy an excellent reputation among professional players. Having run shops in both Buxton and Deal, Colin has recently moved to Scotland.

About the cello

Made in 2017, the cello is modelled after a cello by Carlo Antonio Testore of Milan.

The cello has a one piece back of beautifully-figured willow with ribs of similar wood. The scroll is of maple and the front is two pieces of characterful spruce.

The cello is a 7/8th size instrument: the length of back is 740 mm and the string length of 675 mm.

How does it sound?

This is a lively, characterful instrument which works brilliantly! It has a complex, interesting sound with lots of warmth.

Condition

The cello is in original mint condition.

Certification

The instrument comes with the certificate of the maker.
