About Colin Cross
Colin Cross graduated from the Newark School of Violin Making with Distinction in 1989. He is highly respected for his extensive experience in restoration and repair work and his instruments enjoy an excellent reputation among professional players.
Having run shops in both Buxton and Deal, we are delighted that Colin has recently moved to Scotland.
About the cello
This cello was made in Colin's Deal workshop in 2021 and is modelled after the instruments of Giovanni Grancino.
The cello has a one piece back of attractive poplar, with ribs and scroll of similar wood. The front is two pieces of relatively wide-grained spruce and the varnish is a soft golden-amber in colour.
The cello has a length of back of 745 mm and a vibrating string length of 689 mm.
How does it sound?
This cello has a crisp, lively character with excellent projection. It's even and reliable, never becoming strident.
Condition
The cello is in excellent original condition.
