Violin bow by Charles Nicolas Bazin, Mirecourt, circa 1900

About Charles Nicolas Bazin

Charles Nicolas Bazin is a fantastic French maker whose Mirecourt workshop employed many of the town´s finest makers. He inherited the workshop from his father aged only 18 but proved to be an excellent businessman, supplying top-quality bows to many of the Parisian shops.

His bows are much sought after for their high quality and excellent playing characteristics.

About the violin bow

This bow was made in Mirecourt around 1900 and bears its maker's brand.

The round stick is made of attractive pernambuco which is orange brown in colour. The mounts are silver and ebony.

The bow weighs 60 grams and the stick measures 729 mm in length.

How does it play?

This bow works really well! It's well balanced, strong yet flexible, and speaks at the quietest dynamics. The nickel mounts make it more affordable than a silver mounted bow by the same great maker with no compromise at all to playing quality!

Condition

The bow is in very good condition with some signs of use at the handle.

Certification

The bow comes with the 2005 certificate of Pierre Guillaume.
