Orbis Musicus

We are delighted to support the work of Orbis Musicus, an international initiative dedicated to creating high-level learning opportunities through masterclasses and performance courses in a supportive and inspiring environment. Founded on the belief that exceptional teaching should be both accessible and personal, Orbis Musicus brings together outstanding artists and teachers from across Europe while placing genuine emphasis on individual growth, encouragement, and musical exchange.

Tim and I both have very fond memories of attending courses like this and know first-hand how transformative the opportunity to learn from outstanding performers and pedagogues can be for a musician's development. It is this combination of artistic excellence, generosity of spirit, and commitment to supporting the next generation that makes Orbis Musicus a project we are especially pleased to support.

In memory of Tim's grandmother, Molly Thornhill, a musician and enthusiastic supporter of the arts who believed deeply in the value of music and helping worthwhile causes, we are proud to offer the Molly Thornhill Scholarship in support of a talented musician wishing to attend this year's Orbis Musicus course.

This September, that course takes the form of String Academy Ochsenhausen, taking place in the beautiful town of Ochsenhausen in southern Germany.

The course runs from 14–18 September and features an outstanding faculty: Sergey Levitin (violin), Concertmaster of the Royal Opera House Orchestra, Professor Christiane Hutcap (violin), Professor Karin Wolf (viola), and Professor Josephine Knight (cello).
