Violin by Alan Beavitt, Scoraig, 2003

About Alan Beavitt

Alan Beavitt is a highly-respected British luthier who has had his workshop on the remote Scoraig peninsula since 1973. His work is much sought after by professional players in the UK and abroad: we're very pleased to have this finely made violin available for sale.

About the violin

This violin was made on the Scoraig peninsula in 2003 and is modelled after the instruments of Stradivari.

The violin has a two piece back of quarter-sawn maple, the flame ascending from the centre joint. The ribs and scroll are of similar wood. The front is two pieces of straight-grained spruce and the varnish is an unshaded red.

The violin has a length of back of 354 mm.

How does it sound?

This is a very powerful, even violin with an impressive sound. It would make an excellent violin for exploring concerto repertoire.

Condition

The violin is in excellent original condition.
