About Stephanie Irvine

At 18, Stephanie apprenticed with the luthier Guust François in Amsterdam, where she made a viola after the 16th century Brescian maker Gasparo da Salo. She went on to the Newark School of Violin Making, and to study with and work alongside the makers Melvin Goldsmith and David Rattray. Stephanie now has her own workshop in Sweden.

About the violin

This violin was made in Glasgow in 2018 and is a bench copy of an instrument by the Milanese maker Giovanni Grancino. The violin is really successful in capturing the spirit of the original in both looks and tone.

Length of back: 353 mm

Width of upper bouts: 166 mm

Width of middle bouts: 110 mm

Width of lower bouts: 205 mm

How does it sound?

The violin is extremely exciting to play and combines the punch required for Bartok with the sophistication needed to play Bach.

The violin is in original mint condition.
