This violin is a bench copy of an instrument by the Milanese maker Giovanni Grancino and really captures the spirit of the original in both looks and tone. A Grancino which is extremely similar to the original and to this copy can be seen on pages 270 and 271 of Four Centuries of Violin Making: Fine Instruments from the Sotheby´s Archives. The violin extremely exciting to play and combines the punch required for Bartok with the sophistication needed to play Bach.
