About Nina Poots
Nina is a Glasgow-based luthier who graduated from the Newark School of Violin Making. She maintains a busy workshop in the city, combining new making with restoration.
Nina graduated with a BA in Art Education in her native Netherlands before coming to Scotland to study violin making at Glasgow Clyde College. She then continued her studies at the Newark School of Violin Making, graduating in 2022.
About the violin
Modelled after the instruments of Stradivari, this violin was made in 2019 and is Nina´s third instrument.
The violin has a two piece back of plain maple with ribs and scroll to match. The front is two pieces of medium-grained spruce. The varnish is reddish-brown in colour and the length of back is 357 mm.
How does it sound?
This is a balanced violin with lots of sweetness and warmth to the sound. The instrument has a singing quality which makes legato passages a pleasure to play. A lovely all-rounder!
Condition
The violin is in original mint condition.
Certification
The violin comes with the certificate of the maker.
