Violin Bow by James Dodd II, London

About James Dodd II

James Dodd II was the son of bowmaker James Dodd I. The Dodds were a large, London-based family of bow makers: James II´s uncle John Dodd is the most celebrated of the family.

About the bow

The bow comes with its original frog and button but has a set of beautiful silver and ebony mounts made for the stick in order to preserve the originals. The bow weighs 61 grams.

How does it play?

This bow is a real favourite of mine! It´s not too light or too heavy, not too strong or too stiff, it´s well-balanced and has a magic sound. Equally at home in Mozart, Brahms and Stravinsky, it truly deserves its place as the main bow in the toolkit of a great player.

Condition

The bow is in excellent condition with unoriginal mounts as described above.
