About Henri Delille

The instruments labelled La Lutherie d’Art are made in a small Chinese workshop which is run by the Belgian firm Henri Delille. The work is of consistently high quality and the instruments are popular with players around the world.

About the viola

This viola was made in the Henri Delille workshop in China and is their Stradivari 400 model.

The viola has a two piece back of quarter-sawn, book-matched maple with ribs and scroll to match. The front is two pieces of medium-grained spruce and the varnish is a shaded golden amber.

The viola has a length of back of 15 and 3/4 inches or 400 mm.

How does it sound?

This is a rich, projecting instrument which would make an excellent upgrade from a student viola. It speaks easily and is reliable without compromising on tonal variation.

Condition

The viola is in excellent original condition.
