About the J.T.L. Workshop
The workshop of Jérôme Thibouville Lamy was based in Mirecourt and made a wide range of stringed instruments and bows of various different grades. They were open for more than a century, closing their doors for the last time in 1969. The workshop was both large and prolific and examples of their work can be seen all around the world.
About the bow
This violin bow was made in the JTL workshop and is stamped Charles Buthod, the name of one of the directors of the firm. The bow weighs 62 grams and the mounts are of silver and ebony.
How does it play?
This is without a doubt the best bow from the JTL workshops I've ever played. It makes a stunningly good sound and has the ideal combination of strength, flexibility and balance.
Condition
The bow is in good condition.
