Trial at home

We are pleased to offer a trial at home service on all of our instruments and bows, allowing our clients to take items on approval for up to 14 days.

Why take an instrument or bow on trial?

We recognise that trying instruments or bows in our shop is not the same as trying them in the comfort of your own home! Our clients often like to play a new instrument in their orchestra or quartet, to their teacher or friends, or even just in a range of different acoustics before they are sure about a purchase. Buying an instrument is a big decision and taking the time to really get to know it is a key part of the process.

Insurance and terms

The item(s) are fully insured by us during the trial period. Please note that any instruments/ bows that are not right must be returned to us by the end of the trial period. Extending the trial is often possible but only by prior written agreement.

Is there a charge for trial periods?

We do not charge for trials, nor is there a deposit to pay. In order to arrange to take items on approval you will need to provide photo ID and proof of address as well as completing a short form.

How does the trial process work?

Generally speaking, clients try instruments or bows in the shop and then take away their favourite two or three to try for a longer period. Sometimes when trying from a distance it may be more appropriate to try several in one go.

We also offer trial periods after video consultation appointments.
