Melvin Goldmsith enjoys a well-deserved reputation as one of the leading makers of his generation. He is renowned for superbly accurate copies of 17th and 18th century master instruments.

About the violin

This violin is a relatively early instrument by Melvin, made in 1993. It is copy of the famous 'Messiah' Stradivari of 1716.

The violin has a one piece back of flamed maple with ribs and scroll to match. The front is two pieces of medium-grained spruce. The varnish is a vibrant red colour which very successfully captures the look of the original instrument.

The violin has a length of back of 356 mm.
