Probably C N Bazin
This is a very convincing copy of a James Tubbs viola bow. In all likelihood it was made by C N Bazin, a prolific and talented archetier, who ran a busy workshop making many bows each year, mostly in the post Voirin style, but with the occasional Tubbs and Dodd copy. These copy bows weren’t stamped Bazin, as his other bows were, which makes attribution more tricky. Most importantly however, this bow plays brilliantly. It sits in the string well and is great quality, dense pernambuco, drawing out a rich and dark sound.
